Most Australians are spending their Christmas break with loved ones — relaxing at the beach, chilling at home with family or heading off on a trip.

But there are plenty of others who spend their lives running and hiding from police.

Around the country there are hundreds of people wanted on arrest warrants, with alleged crimes ranging from murder to drugs to cyberscams.

Here is a selection of some of the most wanted people around the nation being sought by police for arrest.

BRADY HAMILTON, NSW

Brady Hamilton has been on the run for almost 20 years over his alleged involvement in the bashing murder of a man at Erskine Park in August 1999.

The 51-year-old was known to be a previous member of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang.

Police said his co-accused was sentenced to 16 years in jail after pleading guilty to manslaughter over the killing.

Hamilton is described as caucasian with a fair complexion and ginger hair, 185cm tall and of a medium build. He also has a heavily tattooed chest.

A warrant was issued for his arrest in 2001.

JAMES DALAMANGAS, NSW

James Dalamangas is accused of the stabbing murder of Sydney man George Giannopoulos at a nightclub in Belmore, in Sydney’s southwest, in April 1999.

Giannopoulos, who was 32 when he died, was stabbed after he intervened in a bar dispute.

Earlier this year, NSW Police tracked Dalamangas to Greece, where they believe he is now living under a false name.

A $200,000 reward is available for information that may lead to his arrest.

Dalamangas is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, between 180cm and 185cm tall, of medium build, with black hair and brown eyes.

GRAHAM GENE POTTER, VIC

Graham Gene Potter, 61, has been wanted by police on conspiracy to murder charges for nine years.

He failed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court to front the charges in February 2010 and was lasted sighted by police in Tully, Queensland, where he ran from a vehicle after police attempted to intercept him in August that year.

Potter served a 15-year sentence for killing and dismembering a 19-year-old woman in Corrimal in 1981.

It is alleged he often changes his appearance and uses aliases to avoid detection.

Earlier this year, Victoria Police released images of campsite tools and handwritten notes detailing the disguises he has used over the years.

He's believed to be in a relationship and living in a rural area in Australia.

A $100,000 reward for information leading to his capture was announced in 2011 and remains in place.

JONATHAN ROBERT SIMMONS, SA

Jonathan Robert Simmons, 36, ripped more than $58,000 from various people in 2014 by claiming he would develop a website to “assist punters”, detectives say.

The suspected fraudster likely fled interstate the following year as SA Police closed in.

He remains one of the state’s most-wanted fugitives for a range of serious crimes.

Simmons, whose former address is unknown, had a warrant issued for his arrest in 2016 for deception-related crimes after an investigation by Eastern Adelaide CIB detectives.

They want to arrest him on 10 deceive another to benefit self charges, which authorities allege occurred between September 17, 2014 and November 5 in the same year in Adelaide.

Records show he was due to appear in theAdelaide Magistrates Court on May 5, 2016, where a warrant was issued for his arrest.

PHAM NGUYEN, VIC

Victoria Police are hunting Pham Nguyen. The 63-year-old is wanted for conduct endangering life after he allegedly threw petrol on a woman and assaulted her after climbing into the back seat of her car.

The woman drove off without realising he was there. Nguyen’s alleged actions caused the woman to drive into a pole.

Police have issued a warrant for his arrest after he fled from the vehicle.

HARLEY BENNETT, NSW

Newcastle man Harley Bennett has been on the run since 2010, after he committed aggravated sexual assault and was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment in NSW.

The 45-year-old was later paroled but breached the conditions and is believed to have fled interstate.

PAUL STEADMAN, NSW

Paul Brent Steadman was working as a karate instructor in the Bathurst area in 2015 when he was charged with offences relating to the sexual assault of an underage boy.

The 51-year-old failed to appear at Bathurst Local Court, resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.

His vehicle was later located in bushland, but he has never been found.

Police believe he has left the Bathurst area but are also considering the possibility that he is deceased.

The 50-year-old has an olive complexion, brown eyes, black hair and is of a medium build.
